The auto industry has seen a steady cadence of automakers announcing their commitment to drive the development of electric vehicles (EVs) forward and reach mass-market adoption. In fact, the number of new EVs coming to market is monumental. According to a June 2021 report by Bank of America, U.S. Automotive Pipeline, there are nearly 90 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) slated to go on sale for model years 2022-2025.
As new product comes to market, EV market share will continue to grow. At present, there are 19 BEVs, with 2.5% market share of all new-vehicle sales in the United States, according to data provided by Wards Intelligence. Most of these vehicles are available at one of the more than 16,000 dealerships across the country.
